Why people (who knows alphabet and how to use the keyboard, and sometime have their own blog) need/want to write?
Below are the excerpts of the article “10 questions to Umberto Eco”, a great and renowned Italian Philosopher in TIMES magazine published 28 November 2007. The answer is very intriguing and explained things that I never ever thought of before. It somehow inspires my spine and as a writer, I will definitely quote that…
Questions: Do you find yourself conscious of readers while you write? Is it possible for a writer to completely disregard readers while writing?
Mahtot Teka, ADDIS ABABA
Umberto Eco: All the authors who say they write for themselves are liars. Writing is an act of communication, it’s an act of love, it’s something you do in order to be understood.
Yeah… most of time, I want to be understood.. most… probably. But I think a lot of other writers also want people/readers to understand their world too. Power to all the writers, thinkers and the scholars… don’t let them be POLITICION!
